This was
my last day with Eron. After breakfast we spent another hour or two in
Rothenburg before checking out of the hotel. He then dropped me off at
the train station before heading back to Holland with his dad. Now solo,
I headed southeast, to Salzburg.
|
01) ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER | The
view from our hotel window. |
|
02) ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER | In
front of our hotel. The open third floor window in the building at the
left was our room.
03) ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER | The
Rathaus during the day. The tower was being worked on. The green stuff
is screen that is fastened to the scaffolding.
04) ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER | Ah!
So there's the American consulate!
|
05) ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER | A
fountain . |
|
06) ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER | Climbing
the wall.
07) ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER | Along
the wall.
08) ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER | Heading
back to check out. Our hotel was just past the tower.
|
09) SALZBURG | I
arrived in Salzburg (after missing my first train [it wouldn't be
the last!]) at about 5pm. I was able to get a hotel reservation through
the tourist office at the train station and after a short walk (6
blocks) checked in. My room was enormous and I had it all to myself.
The only real drawback was that it was about a mile and a half away
from the city center. Which really wasn't all that bad, as I was able
to quite easily walk along and over the river Salzach to get to the
old town. Once there, the first place I came across was Mozart's birth
house (above). I had dinner in this little square (salmon - yum!). |
|
10) SALZBURG | The
cathedral w/fountain and cows (trust me, there's more than one).
11) SALZBURG | Festung
Hohensalzburg - the largest surviving medieval castle in Europe.
|
12) SALZBURG | A
church at night. |
|
13) SALZBURG | Shot
of the day award! It was actually a tough shot. I had to leave the shutter
of my camera open for over 10 seconds to get it. I also had to wait until
I was the only one on the Müllnersteg footbridge as people walking
would cause the bridge to bounce.
