This documentary was shown on the Sci-Trek (Discovery Channel) on British satellite TV in February 2000. In it French architect Jean Paul Louve examines the pit dwellings of the Berbers in the Matmata area. During several visits he discovers the nature of the layout, the practicality of their design and the present governments attitude towards these "primitive" households. To contrast these underground dwellings he also visits the ksour of the deep south, including Ksar Hadada (which still has The Phantom Menace "Tatooine" doors in place).
