The Artist's Palette is an area of Death Valley where the rocks
have turned various colors, such as hues of green and red. This is a
result of the different minerals deposited in the rocks, which
appear as different colors. More importantly to us, this is the site
where R2 was filmed as he first started rolling towards his capture.
We are unsure if anything was shot in Artist's Palette other then
the establishing shot for the canyon. We know most of the footage
was done in "Star Wars Canyon" in Tunisia. Looking around, it didn't
seem like any of the other shots in the film came from the small
canyon at Artist's Palette, but it was getting dark and we did not
have time to thoroughly explore.
