Return to Endor

My name is Patrick Ireland and this is my story. I was born in 72 and in 77 when i was 5 my older brothers took me to see Star Wars at the local drive in. We were living in Fortuna CA at the time and we saw Star Wars A New Hope at the State Theater which had a huge drive in at the time. Huge Fan! Anyway when Lucas came to Humboldt County to film the Endor scenes for Return of the Jedi my brothers knew about it and we were there!
I have read all the articles and viewed all the pictures and most of the information is accurate. Allow me to add my experience with you all. The Battle of Endor was filmed on private land owended by The Miller-Rellim Redwood Company. California State Parks would not allow for pyrotecnics so Lucas paid an undisclosed amount of money to Miller-Rellim for use of their land. The filming location was about 5 miles up Morrison Creek Road which is just north of Crescent City CA. Almost a year after filming was done the land was logged. Not a trace remains of the Ewok village or the Shield Generator Bunker. On a happier note Endor still lives! Just east of Fortuna CA on Highway 36 resides the Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park. Here is where the speeder bike chase was filmed! Owen Chetum Grove is where cameramen walked these woods for hours filming these massive redwoods. There were 3 key landmarks which still give me goosebumps thinking about it! My recent visit to this storied place produced some wonderful pictures which i am proud to share with you all!
