Hi all,

I read that Episode III has been filmed on location on Tenerife mountain El Teide.

I cannot find this information on the locations part of the this website.

I am going to Tenerife in few weeks, anyone can help to find the location?

Thank you

Hi Max,

I've heard that also but can't find any facts to support it and Mount Teide isn't mentioned in the credits for any of the films. A quick search online finds plenty of people claiming that Star Wars, Planet of the Apes and The Ten Commandments were all filmed there. I don't know about the second two, but I'm pretty sure Star Wars wasn't filmed there.

I'm sure you'll have a great trip anyway. The islands look beautiful.

Thanks,
Bill

I'm not sure about Star Wars, but planet of the apes and the ten commandments were filmed there. i went to El Teide a few weeks ago, and once you get to roques de garcia it's beautiful.

P.S. Take something warm to El teide.

Actually it is Lanzarote where several of the volcanic peaks were scouted as potential locations for Mustaphar - see TF.N:

http://theforce.net/latestnews/story/spy_report_filming_in_spain_and_episode_iii_76023.asp

In the end McCallum flew out to Italy to shoot Etna when it erupted, and the rest of Mustaphar was created digitally.

Naturally it suits any tourist spot to claim a Star Wars connection if they think they can get away with it, and good luck to them as it must be good for business. Cappadocia in Turkey anyone ?
I'd imagine most people on a coach tour would happily pose for photos and tell the folks back home they saw a Star Wars location.

For the truth however you have to rely on the official sources and the words of producers, 2nd unit crew, actors and extras. Take anything else with a pinch of salt and trust your own eyes.
