Hi All,

Does anyone in the group have a file with GPS coordinates of the various locations around the world that they would be willing to share or post to this site?

If possible, I'd love to have coordinates of filming locations, significant offices (like ILM, America Zoetrope, etc) and ANYTHING ELSE important in Star Wars history.

I can open any GPS file format, although GPX is the most universal sharing file.

Thanks,
DominoDoggy

This sites owner is collating a Google Earth (KML) file of GPS readings from people who have actually visited some of these sites and readings obtained by simply viewing satellite imagery.

Do you have anything that converts KML to GPX or is KML good for you ?
(I quickly checked the format of both and it looks like you could convert between the two formats in a simple text editor as they are both XML based.)

Hi ColinK,

GoogleEarth files are fine. I use that as well as standard GPS mapping programs, so reading it and converting it over won't be a problem.

Thanks for your help,
DD

I'll try to have a rough Google Earth KML file up on the site in the next week. It should contain most of the locations around the world. After the first version gets posted I'll continue to polish it up and add more descriptions, different angles, and if anyone has a request or suggestion, I'll try to work those in as well.

Recently I've been building a wiki map that I hope Wookieepedia can host in a few months when they support Google Map.

I just posted the Google Earth KML file. Let me know what you think.
