I can't seem to find much information on the internet for these scenes. At least nothing in English.
I did find one article on theforce.net that mentions a fan visit to Lake Como:
http://www.theforce.net/latestnews/story/june_excursion_to_lake_retreat_62324.asp
It refers to 3 filming locations in the area which includes a picnic meadow so this might be the right spot. The link in the article goes to a site in Italian and I can't find any reference to this trip. The only thing I found was an article about the locations in all 6 films but I've seen this on several sites before:
http://www.guerrestellari.net/article1772.html
I think I'll try contacting them to see if they have any more information.

Jeroen's Guide To Como is now available. I think it should answer any questions about this location.

I know exactly where it is - I was there in May, 2006. The picnic site is north of the Villa Balbianello on the same side of the lake, the west side. It's more directly across the lake from Bellagio. Wrote an entry over at Star Wars Afficionado - go here - http://www.starwarsaficionado.com/page/page/5228213.htm -and click on A Trip To Naboo.
This is when it was filmed (via my guide when I was at Lake Como - she was on site throughout the filming and is a total Star Wars fan)

Yes, the picnic scene was the last one to be filmed here, on saturday 2nd sept: they finished at 4.30 p.m. and Mr. Lucas ' helper announced in italian "Abbiamo finito!" (we're finished!).Did you received my photo
as a dancer?
