Jeremy has mentioned the possibility of web publishing for his 'On Location' book.
That would be absolutely great! I'm highly interested in the publication in any format!

As recently announced Star Wars Locations might be able to have an eBook ('On Location' book) version available in the future. The book from Mark Dermul is a great reference in you plan on going or just if you feel like catching up on what you did (or missed).
There is quite a few sites from people that have visited before as well, collecting that info and getting to know what to do and where to go is also part of your preparation for the actual visit .... going prepared is more then 50% of your succesfull visit.
All the best,
Jeroen

We came back from Tunisia yesterday (13 Apr 08) having visted all the major SW locations.
The Small set is now visable again, the road to the SW canyon is tarmacced as is the road to Ben's house.
There are now crappy gift stalls at all the locations in the Chotts / dunes except for the Homestead (which is sadly now being used as a tyre dump).
Haggling with the camel herders at Chott El Gharsa is a lost cause - even with a local guide!
You will need your passport to visit homestead as the checkpoint security is much greater than before.

Just back from Tunisia (Sept '08) and not only is the approach road to SW canyon tarmacced, but the entire parking area has been levelled and paved, with a big blue 'P' sign and signs directing visitors to Sidi Bouhlel and Sidi Abasse. It's not really possible to view the Sandcrawler Parking Lot in the same way as you could before.
The Homestead out on the Chott is now out of bounds, it is currently forbidden for tourists to go beyond the police checkpoint on the main road out of Nefta. Not sure what would happen if you drove out onto the Chott well before the checkpoint but you'd need a GPS coordinate to aim for as it's so featureless out there. The police / national guard will let you turn off the main road to go to the Dunes, but only to get out of your car, take some photos and return. Walking off into the big dunes is a no-no.
Not sure when the security will return to normal but whilst tourists are still being kidnapped I think you can expect to have a hard time visiting the Homestead and Dunes just outside of Nefta.
