"ANH" filming locations at Sidi Bouhlel ("Star Wars Canyon") The journey through Tunisia takes yet another turn... this time to the west! Come follow Doug and I as we hike up through some of the most beautiful terrain yet in "Star Wars Canyon."
"TPM" and "AOTC" film set ("Mos Espa") WOW! There's not much else to say about this amazing "Star Wars" set located in the middle of the Nefta dunes out in the middle of nowhere! Just bring a Euro so you can pay for the toilet nearby!
"ANH," "AOTC" and "ROTS" igloo set near Nefta dunes ("Lars Homestead" exterior) Here it is kids - the "Holy Grail" of "Star Wars" locations... the "Lars Homestead" exterior in the middle of the Chott El Jerid salt flat. This one comes complete with sunset - too bad there is only one sun though...
"ANH" and "AOTC" locations at the Hotel Sidi Driss, Matmata (Lars Homestead "interior") Just when you think you've seen everything... here comes the troglodyte village of Matmata, Tunisia! This surrealist topography of underground Berber dwellings was not only once an important nexus of military intrigue during World War II, it is also quite literally the home of "Luke Skywalker!"

"ANH" filming location near Nefta ("Dune Sea") A camel has two humps while a dromedary has only one! How do we know...? Well, we took a ride through "Les Grande Dunes to check out Tatooine's "Dune Sea" and found ourselves in the midst of a bunch of enterprising young Bedouin kids!
"TPM" locations at Ong Jemal near the Nefta dunes ("Ksar Hededa repro. set and more) While in Tozeur, we checked out the filming locations near Ong Jemal ("neck of the camel") located in the odd "Chott El Gharsa" salt lake.
"TPM" location at Ksar Hedada (Mos Espa slave quarters) You might imagine that buildings constructed over 400 years ago would not have much style or sophistication to them, and yet we discovered the opposite on our third day of trekking through Tunisia. In this album, we visit "Ksar Hedada" - another principal filming location for "Episode I - The Phantom Menace." Let's meet some Berbers, shall we?
"TPM" locations in Medenine and Tataouine (Mos Espa slave quarters) Day Two of our trek through Tunisia takes a turn to the south where it seems overall coloration of everything turns from blue to yellow. It was nice to finally get on continental Africa and feel more of the Tunisian pulse!
