I'd like to say thanks to Colin Kenworthy for scouring through web-archive.org to recover the html for this site and also for saving all of the Death Valley images long ago while the site was still up.

All of the images in the Modesto and Muir Woods galleries are missing so if anyone happens to have them, please let me know.

Star Wars trek: Los Angeles - 2000 and 2001

Star Wars stories

In 2000 and 2001 I tried tracking down various locations in the Los Angeles area that had anything to do with Star Wars. Over the previous couple of years I had read several books on George Lucas and the making of the movies. In each I highlighted references to specific locations when they were mentioned. This was my attempt to try to find all of those places.

Star Wars trek: Buttercup Valley - Feb 3, 2001

Star Wars stories

After my great trip in 1999 to Star Wars filming locations all over the world, I found myself very anxious to find some others a little closer to home. My first trip would be to the Imperial Sand Dunes in Buttercup Valley near Yuma, Arizona. This is where the Jabba's Sail Barge scenes for Return of the Jedi were filmed. New scenes for the ANH Special Edition were also shoot near Yuma according to Star Wars Galaxy 6. I didn’t really have a lot to go by to find the exact spot but it was only a 4-hour drive away so why not go check it out.

Kahunna is by far the biggest expert that I know of for Star Wars Locations in Death Valley. He has a great website on world travel at Kahunna.net and has organized several trips to Death Valley through the LiningUp.net message boards including these:

Star Wars trek: Tunisia to Norway - May 26 to June 26, 1999

Star Wars stories

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...OK maybe it wasn't so long ago, but it was pretty far away. Jared and I traveled together to visit Star Wars film sites from Tunisia to Norway. The trip lasted for a month, covered thousands of miles, and cost more then we had planned, but it was worth it. I returned home with the memories of a wonderful vacation, a few small props, and some dirt from distant worlds.

Added Captcha v2.0

GeekLogAdded Captcha v2.0 to hopefully help with spam. Anonymous users will need to enter in a string of letters or numbers before being able to submit a comment, post to the forum, contribute a story, etc. Logged in users should never see the captcha. Another benefit of creating an account and logging in will be member albums in the Media Gallery. I will be setting this up so you receive your own album to post your pictures in once you create an account.

Thanks,
Bill
